The objective of this project was to turn an area of unused and overgrown land, roughly
an acre in size, into an attractive garden with both formal and informal areas. Much of the
existing vegetation had to be cleared to enable access to prepare areas of ground for
planting. The rubbish that had accumulated over the years was cleared and disposed
of. To provide all abilities access a 2m wide path was built from one end of the garden to
the other.
Features:
100m long 2m wide footpath, constructed of compacted quarry materials with blinding of
crusher dust
Raised 3m stone planter, planted with selection of alpines
Two large shrub beds, planted with variety of shrubs including escallonia, oleria, buddelja,
cotoneaster, dogwood, dwarf hebe's
Small lawn area - imported ornamental turf
Selection of ornamental trees.
Large semi-circular area planted with large variety of wildflowers

Second Phase:- February & March 2009
Construction of log cabin
Construction of patio and barbecue area
Preparation of areas for planting
Further planting of shrubs, herbaceous plants and trees
Levelling and reseeding of area around cabin.



Hopefully the garden will prove to be of great enjoyment and benefit to local residents for
many years to come.
